Show Nielsen- C 453 proper if he knows. MR. FARNSNORTH: I think I have even a right to get his judgment. He has already answered it. ( Answer read.) SPECIAL MASTER: The question has been asked and answered. ( Question read.) A Well, I haven't been there every year; just occasionally. Q But you have seen the river every year? A Well, for the last twenty- three years I haven't been on the river; I moved away from Bluff about twenty- three years ago, and went up above, twenty- three miles north of Bluff. Q For the twenty- odd years before that you saw the river every day, didn't you? A Not every day, no; but I was around where I would see the river occasionally, up and down, working on a ditch, up at the head of a ditch and along the river and so on. Q The depth at this wash you speak of at Chinle creek would depend A I wasn't there; that is about twenty miles, -- fifteen miles below Bluff; I wasn't there only when I was freighting at that place. Q You would say this, wouldn't you, that during the lows water the average depth of the channel in the San Juan river as you observed it would be not less than two or three feet deep? A Sometimes; sometimes it would be two or three; sometimes it would be less, and sometimes it would be much more. Q You have told us that; we are trying to get an average. 2419 |
