Show Blake- D 518 A Farmington, New Mexico. Q How long have you lived in that country? A Well, my father moved there and brought the family in 1888. Q Did you come with him or come soon after? A I came with him. Q What has been your business there? A Well, I have an Indian trader and merchant and also farming; I am farming at the present. Q Are you familiar with the San Juan river? A I am familiar with it near Farmington, yes sir. Q How far down the river? A I made one trip to Bluff City, or to Goodrich, below Bluff City, I think it is twenty- five miles. Q How many trips have you made to Bluff? A Just one. Q That was the one when you went on down to Goodrich? A Yes sir. Q Have you carried on any trade with the Indians? A Yes sir. Q Ever know of Indians using boats on this river? A Not to my knowledge. Q Does the San Juan river near Farmington maintain a fairly even flow, or is it up and down, or how is it? A It is hard to tell what it is; sometimes it is real high; other times it is real low. Q What do you mean by real low? A Well, very little water in the river 2484 |
