Show Burnham- D 566 C. W. BURNHAM was thereupon called as a witness on behalf of the United states, and being first duly sworn herein, testified as follows: DIRECT EXAMINATION BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Will you state your name please? A C. W. Burnham. Q " C." stands for what? A Clinton. Q Where do you live, Mr. Burnham? A At Farmington, New Mexico. Q How old a man are you? A Fifty- four. Q What is your occupation? A At present I am engaged in the Indian trading business. Q Have you been in that business for some time? A About twelve years. Q What did you do prior to that time? A Well, I worked for wages, and forked on a farm-- raised on a farm, in fact, on the San Juan river. Q When did you first come into the San Juan country? A If my memory serves me right it was in the early spring of 1881. Q You were not very old then, were you? A I was six years old. Q Whereabouts did your family settle? A They settled at that time what was called Fruitland; it is 2532 |
