A We done that in 1882, I think, along in 1882 or 1883; I forget the exact year; that was on several occasions; the main work was done when the high water come; I forget just what year it was in. Q Is that work still there? A No sir. Q How long has it been gone? A A number of years; I don't know; I quit when I found out my land was washed away; I went then to Verdure, Utah. I am Paying taxes on houses and lands in Bluff City, but the land is practically all gone down the river bed. Q What experience have you had on the river between Bluff City and the Colorado? Have you been down there of ten? A Well, no, I haven't; I forded it a number of times. Q At what points? A What was called the Clay Hill; I forded it there. Q Whereabouts? A Clay Hill range, south and west of Bluff about fifty or sixty miles, I guess; I don't know the exact distance. Q Is it above or below Mexican Hat? A Below. I have been down to Mexican Hat, also. I forded the river several times down there with a crowd of surveyors, geological surveyors who were making a map of the whole country; they hired me to go with them and pilot them through the country. 2510 |
