Show 541 PARLEY ROGERSON BUTT was thereupon called as a witness by the United States, and being first duly sworn, testified as follows: DIRECT EXAMINATION BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Will you state your name to the court, please? A My name? Q Yes sir. A My name is Parley Rogerson Butt. They have :" Butts" on the summons, but it is Butt. Q How old a man are you? A I am sixty- nine years old, past. Q Where do you live at the present time? A Well, my home is what we call Dove Creek, about fourteen miles from the eastern line of Utah into Colorado. Q What has been your occupation generally? A Stock raising and farming principally. Q Are you familiar with the San Juan river? A I ought to be, yes. Q Well, are you familiar with it? A I came there when I was seventeen years old, lives there about thirty years; I am pretty familiar with the San Juan river, which I wish I hadn't been. MR.
