Show Nielsen- D 444 A I freighted merchandise to the stores, and I freighted from Thompson Spring to Moab considerably, and from Thompson Springs to Bluff, and some from Durango to Bluff; different places around down the river; freighted down there to the placer mine; down there considerable. Q How did you conduct your freighting operations between Bluff and Thompson Spring? A With teams and wagons. Q Did you also operate between there and Durango with wagons? A Yes sir. Q Did you carry supplies down to those placer mines? A Yes sir. Q How did you carry those down? A With wagons. Q Do you recall at what point those planer mines were located? A They were down below, on the San Juan river below Bluff about eighty miles. Q Near the mouth of what creek? A Well, I guess it is about twenty mile from the mouth of the San Juan, maybe; I don't know; I never have been any further down; I don't Know; how far the San Juan goes; I should judge it was about twenty miles above the mouth of the San Juan river. Q Are you able to fix the point where you took this freight by any creek or wash that runs into the river? A Well. we went down Moonlight canyon quite a ways, to Nokai; it is about three miles the other side of Nokai, where the mines were. 2410 |
