Q Then where did this party go? A We went to Bluff, just as near as we could get there; had to make a road all the way. Q And you established a settlement there at Bluff, did you? A Yes sir. Q During the time that you lived in and about Bluff, did the Indians ever use this river, the San Juan river, for the purpose of travel? A Nothing only to cross it, I don't think, just cross it; they would cross it most any time. Q From one bank to the other? A Yes, The Navajo reservation was on the south side of the river.
