Show Nielsen- RC 460 RECROSS- EXAMINATION BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You say these Indians uses their boats for a ferry? A The stores, they furnished boats there to ferry the Indians across at Bluff. Q Did the Indians have any boats of their own? A I don't believe they do. Q And the place they would cross their at Bluff is the regular ford, isn't it? A No, they would cross anywhere along there for about a mile; wasn't no ford for the boats. Q Would the Indians bring their supplies across in those boats? A Yes sir. Q That kind of supplies? A Oh, flour and bacon and whatever they used. Q They would bring whatever they sold, blankets and wool and so on, they would bring that over in boats, too? A Yes sir. Q Had no trouble getting them across? A Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't; sometimes we would have trouble in crossing the river, when the river was high. Q I take it some times when you are on one of your freighting trips you have trouble, and sometimes you don't with your outfit; isn't that true? A Yes sir. MR. FARNSWORTH: That is all. MR. BLACKMAR: That is all. 2426 |
