Show Raplee- RD 483 REDIRECT EXAMINATION BY MR. BLACKMAS: Q Mr. Raplee, did you have any trouble while you were running your water wheel down there with shallow water A Well, yes, some seasons; and other seasons wouldn't have any trouble. Some seasons the river would get down pretty low; then other seasons it wouldn't get down so low; we could pas run right along then. Q How often would that occur? A Oh, I don't know; not very often -- not very often. Q Do you ever remember of seeing the San Juan river dry? A Yes. Q What year was that, if you recall it? A Well, I can't hardly tell. Let's see -- no, I can't remember. Q Was there something that you did at that time that fixed that on your memory? A Yes. Q What was it? A The night before the flood came down, or the day before, I rode six or seven miles right up the river channel and back down the river channel, and the next morning the flood came down along about daylight. Q That is, you rode up towards Bluff, Utah? A What? Q You rode up towards Bluff, Utah? A No, I rode above Bluff. Q Above Bluff? 2449 |
