A Ever since I was seventeen years old I lived in San Juan county, Utah, and for the last six years adjoining the Utah line in Colorado. Q Just whereabouts in San Juan county, Utah, did you live? A We call it Bluff City, is the name it went by; Verdure, Utah; I was first located in there, also; then over to Monticello, six miles north of Verdure; I own lots of property there now; I am paying lots of taxes on it; then moved to Colorado. Q How did you come into that country? By what method? Where did you come from? A I came from Iron county, Utah, this side of the Nevada line, in the corner of the state of Utah; came from there; hit the San Juan river in 1879. Q Where did you cross the Colorado river? A We crossed at that time at Lee's Ferry. Q Was that the same expedition that Mr. Jones was in? A It was. Q Same party? A Yes sir. Q You followed the route that he has detailed here? You all came together? A Yes sir. 2508 |
