Show Jones- D 363 Q Mr. Jones, how long have you lived in and about Blanding, Utah? A Well, I landed there in that country the 1st day of June, 1879, and been there practically ever since. Q From what city did you come? A Cedar City. Iron county, Utah. Q And by what route did you travel? A I traveled east of the Sevier river, and then southeast, up the Sevier river, and across the country where the main high-way now is, going to the National park. Q Whereabouts did you cross the Colorado river? A Crossed it at Lee's Ferry. Q How large a party did you have? A There was twenty- two young fellows of us then in that party. Q Then you proceeded on up to the neighborhood of Bluff? A Yes sir. Q What was the purpose of this party? A We were an exploring party, you would call us, I guess. scouting out to see the county for places to locate. Q Beg pardon? A Just looking over the country for a place to locate. Q How much time did you spend in and around Bluff, Utah? A Forty years. Q Well, I mean on this trip. A We was camped there about three months. Q Then where did you go? A We went north from there, up Blue mountain and through Grand 2330 |
