Q Any fur- bearing animals there were in that region were up above Bluff? A Mostly; there may have been a few down at the beaver -- Q These trappers had their boats, didn't they? A I think so. Q When they would come down to Bluff they would come in their boats, wouldn't they? A No, I think they would take their " Rocky mountain canaries". Q Meaning a burro? A Yes sir. Q The river rises quite definitely, doesn't it, above Bluff? A No, the country is very level; very little fall. Q Is the river more or less confined above Bluff, do you know? A Not now. Q Not now it is not? A No sir. Q How did you get to see these trappers' boats, if they did not bring them down when they came? A They didn't come down there in those early days; they took the furs out the other way. Q Took them up the river? 2393 |
