Show Jones 415 A Went into Arizona; there was an old road; then from there, we left the road and struck across northeast on an Indian trail they used. Q You were then on the south side of the San Juan river? A Yes sir. Q I thought you were on the north side? A No sir. Q So you went to Bluff on the south side, did you? A Yes sir. Q Did you go through the Navajo reservation? A Yes sir. Q Then crossed the river against Bluff? A It was above Bluff. Q Near there? A Yes sir. Q And you were then following an old Indian trail, were you? A Yes sir. Q How far from the river? A Well, when we left where Tuba City is now, it was over one hundred miles from the San Juan; as we got this way we came nearer, we came northeast, the further we got this way we were coming towards the river. Q But you were a considerable distance from the river? A Yes sir. Q So on these trips you went in first you didn't see the river -- A Oh, yes. Q -- until you got to Bluff? 2381 |
