Show Allminerals- started in early 1970s, operated maybe 10 years. They made lots of alterations. Older Section of Building: Bob: this 2 foot area joined the 2 buildings together. Look at pulley on upper level, stairs or ladder not safe. The pulley weighs about a ton. Bob: have a gear in the yard that works with pulley. Bob: All of this machinery in operation? Bill: yes BiII- there were three shifts goings; all in use. Main hopper- held the majority after the ore was done it came out here Bill & Bob climbed up to top: very highest point of older section of mill 1890 standing next to belt-driven man lift - operated until late 1970s original electric switch & contacts a rope pulled both ways - pulley & frame still there North side of top floor South side: giant pulley measures about 60 inches. steel pulley wi flat face, 10.5 inches, 6 spokes, a shaft comes out from both sides and gears. Bill: used to pull something had electric brake Bob: have part out the yard that goes with this pulley Next Lower Level: this floor walks out onto roof of newer concrete section where we were before. machinery, main hopper- for the finished product. Both sides did same exact job, one side has newer machinery that's all. did custom sampling. had 3 crews on each side. Main Section West Side: used to be a cone there, there was a crusher in here looking down into open steel and wooded area of the building. Only time Bill came up here was to tighten the cone. mainly worked downstairs. room with no machinery. water pipe. hose it down when it got dusty Floor level- Largest Open Area of West Side of old structure 30 feet above us with a crane on it- a roller and crane on it. roller & crane used to repair the conel work on cone large room - 70 feet long by 40 feet- only the cone in this room on south side another bin. this cone & bin directly over RR tracks. hopper dropped directly into RR car. below us machinery- a screenstanding on 3" or 4" thick planks 3X12, the tongue & groove has shrunk & doesn't fit well anymore East side of older Building 4 boarded up windows. Windows were boarded when new addition put on. same as other windows hand hoists- took couple guys to use mechanical hoists had a crew of mech who did that- 4 of themcone in this area, nothing else went on in this area big wrench used to turn the nut on that bob found tool- piece of steel wi RR iron cut to hook over rail & pick something up lower section of old biding just had screens stair coming off main uppser floor on north end stair is orig to biding |
