In front of and to the north of the main entrance are two gasoline pumps ; one has the {'Sinclair- logo . On the south elevation is a wood - frame storage building ; it has a gable roof covered with corrugated metal panels . The west elevation gas two wood ~ doors and two windows , one six-over - six wood double ~ hung window and one two-over-two wood double - hung window . The south elevation has two four-over - four wood double- hung windows . Shop : The shop was built c . 1924 with a concrete foundation , corrugated metal walls and a gable roof . The main entrance door is on the north elevation ; there is a concrete stoop in front of the door. In 1958 there were 300 pound warehouse sca l es ins i de . ~ ~ Superintendent ' s Residence : Bu i lt c. 1909, the residence for the superintendent of the mill is approximately 1,160 square feet in size . It is a one - story, cross-wing cottage wi t h wood siding and a gable roof . There is a pleasant front porch on the east e l eva t ion or fa ~a ~e .. O Behind, or to the west of the house, is a one- car wood frame garage . ~ ~ Thaw House : Bui l t c. 1927, 200 West . The building is 12 , 34 1 concrete and hollow tile . 3 located at approximately 5450 South sq~are Jf eet with exterior walls of reinforced ~ ~~ Notes on the 1898 Sanborn Fire In surance Map describe the Taylor & Brunton Ore Sampling Works as having: "no whichman (sic) - 2 men sleep in off bldng - power steam - fuel coal - lights electric (city circuit) - run nights at times - water from well by stm pump l"hyd 100' hose - buildings substantial & tidy - unpainted - corr ir rouls " On the 1911 Sanborn map, the main mill building is labeled as "Oxide Mill" . Notes describe it as : "in operation day & night, night watchman : no clock, power & lights elec . , power from mill creek power co located in mill creek canyon, water from private well pumped by 15 hp elec . driven demming triplex pump 6" X 8" cap . 175 galls per min, hyds as shown, 150' 2" hose" The 1942 update of the 1 911 map describes the facility as: "operated 8 to 24 hours per day depending on ore received . watchman when not operated . elec . lights and power, stove heat, city water . no expos any side" |
