Show 4343 Loper- D 2363 BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q I suppose that is all irrigable from the river, isn't it? A No sir. From Red canyon there is springs, four miles up Red canyon flows quite a little stream; there is a point of land runs down here, a ditch comes around like that ( indicating). Q My question is, is it irrigable from the river, taking water further up the river? A No sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q About how many feet does that ranch lie above the river? A I would say twenty- two or twenty- three; the upper part, where the ditch is, may be twenty- five. Q How long did you remain on that ranch? A I left to make the trip through the cataracts, or down the river, in 1914, and I went back in 1914, and I was up and down the river. If it isn't out of order, I would like to explain why I left there. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I think perhaps you better wait until counsel asks you. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Between 1907 and 1914 did you have an opportunity to study the river, and did you study the river? |
