Both accounts are to be paid from the fees . received from Correspondence Courses. Relative to the recommendation made by D. A. Lyon, Metallurgist in charge of the United States Bureau of Mines 01d at the University, and Dr. Merrill, Director of the School £332: of Mines, that the Regents ask the State Board of Examiners to allow the sum of $875 deficit appropriation to fix up .flmaold power house as a pyro- and electro-metallurgical laboratory for the purpose especially of testing zinc ores, it was decided, second Regent that this request be made. Rolapp, President Kingsbury recommended that the name of 1 E} on motion of Regent Van Cott, "School of Mines" be changed to the "School of Mines and Change of ‘ Engineering", if it can be done without affecting the legal Name standing of the school:with respect to the Land Funds and 'tne endowment left to it by the late James McGregor. On motion, the question was referred to the Executive Committee' for investigation and report. \ In view of the fact that the city Board of Education have for some time past been undicided as to whether or not gzgiging they will continue the Training School.at the University, it was decided, on motion of Regent Armstrong, that matters .11 'in this connection be referred to the Normal School Committee , for investigation and report to the Board at the earliest "o3w~§sible date. 1 It was stated that the recommendations for syment of the Training School teachers for next year 4 ‘oefipbably not be made until this question is decided. |
