" Regent Young presented the following resolutions and Emeritus, etc. moved their adoption: 7 "RESOLVED: That we receive and record the letter of Dr. Kingsbury; ' That the Chairman appoint a committee of three to prepare and present to this Board resolutions expressive of the high esteem in which we hold his services and character; 'W That he be tendered the poSition of President Emeritus for year 1916-17, and in view of the fact that he has served for more than 30 years without a vacation, that he be granted a leave of absence at full present salary during 1916-17; and That for the year 1917- 18 he be employed as a professor of chemistry at the full pay of a professor." It was decided to vote upon the last clause separately, whereupOn the rest of the resolutions were adopted with Regent ' fie 2%rflhfl5r Porterfiexplained his vote by saying that he preferred to have. Dr. Kingsbury reélected president for the coming year and plenty of time taken to secure the very best man for president' available for the salary which the University can pay. The last clause was adopted with Regents Armstrong and Bamberger voting "no", Whitmore's and Regent Porter excused from voting. Regents Armstrong and Bamberger stated that they were Vote Cast 0 informed of Regent Whitmore's views in these matters, and requested to have his vote cast in favor of the resolutions, except the last one, No Absentee Votes Hereafter. and against the last one. It was moved by Regent Van Cott, and carried, that Regent Whitmore's vote be recorded for the resolutions and against the last item, as requested, and that hereafter the practice of recording the votes of absentees be discontinued . ‘l |
