Show September 28th, 1914. A special meeting of the Board of Regents was held in the Directors' room of the Deseret National Bank, at one o'clock p.m., September 28th, 1914. I There were present Chairman Riter, and Regents Young, Middleton, Lund, Gemmell, Armstrong, Beal, Kingsbury,and Williams. Bids were cpened for furnishing approximately fifteen hundred tons of coal for the use of the University during Coal Bids. the year 1914-15, and were found to be as follows; Jeremy Fuel & Grain Company, ------ $5. 25 per ton. C. S. Martin Coal & Fuel Company----- $5. 25 Western Fuel Company, -------------- $5. 25 " " Woodruff-Sheets-Morris Coal Co.,---$5. 25 " " All bids were for screened; mine slack coal on a basis of 2000 pounds to the ton. On motion of Regent Armstrong it was decided that the contract be awarded to the four bidders provided they are willing to enter into a joint contract with the University. If some of the Companies are not willing to enter into such a contract, then the contract is to be awarded to those who are willing. If all refuse, the contract is then to be given to the one that is considered the best bid. 'The is kind, or kinds of coal to be used was left for the Executive Committee to decide. McGregor's . The late James McGregor left a bequest of fifty thous- r and dollars ($50,000) for the benefit of the Utah School I heirs were about to contest his will,and recommended that Estate. of Mines. Chairman Riter reported that Mr. MCGregor's the Regents name an attorney to look after the interests of J the University in this estate. |
