Show O uildings and grounds with ,the approval of the President, recommended that the janitors Who are engaged thruout the year by the University, be given us leave of absence of one week on full pay. On motion the recommendation was approved. itiarships } The recommendation of Professor Reynolds, that scholarships, -, .- which will be available during the first year of their regis. I '" . . ".'\‘ I ‘tration in the University, be awarded to the winners of the contests in Art, Debating, Declamation, Public Address, Domestic Art, and Domestic Science, was adopted. It was further decided that these scholarships might be available to the winners of these contests in 1914 and 1915. Q The position of the flag-pole which is to be erected on the ' University campus, was referred back to the Committee on ‘Grounds with power to act." Some method of getting the Normal-Industrial Building started was discussed, but no action was taken. The Chairman reported that considerable difficulty was being experienced in obtaining water for immediate use on the University grounds on account of the general shortage of the City's water supply. On motien, this matter was referred to Regent Young. The Secretary reported that Professor Joseph Peterson refused to accept the hundred dollars which was appropriated for reimbursment of_his expenses while attending an educational convention a couple of years ago. The Board was thanked by Mrs. Lewis S. Hills for the expression of sympathy which was sent by the Board in the form of a ‘ floral offering. The sending of this offering was approved hand.its cost ordered paid. |
