A special meeting of the Board of Regents of the University of Utah was held at Regent Van Cott's home at 7:30 o'clock p.m., Thursday, January 20th, 1916. Present, Chairman Riter and Regents Lund, Middleton, Young, Van Cott, Bamberger, Armstrong, Mattson and Porter. / Regents Kingsbury, Williams, Gemmell, Rolapp, President Kingsbury not a candidate for re- appointment Absent, and Whitmore. The following letter from President Kingsbury was read by the Secretary: " January 20th, 1916. Hon. W. W. Riter, Chairman, Board of Regents, University of Utah. Dear Sir: I believe that a condition, if possible, should be brought about by which all the people of Utah could unite in building up a stung University commensurate at least with the wealth and dignity of the State. To be sure that I shall not stand in the way in effecting this desirable end, I have decided not to be a candidate for reappointment as President. In this connection I wish to thank the Board of Regents fo he uniform courtesy extended to me and for its support and continuous good will for the many years I have been a member of the teaching force and President of the Institutions |
