Show Kolb- D 792 THE SPECIAL MASTER: He will have his notes tomorrow and give it exact. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Moving down from the mouth of the Green river, just tell me about the progress of your trip. A When the Gran river entered -- we called it the Grand then-- water was more red, showing there was a flood coming down the Grand river; the rapids began about four miles below there, the rapids of Cataract canyon, and Cataract canyon is a little over forty miles in length, and has forty- five bad rapids. I believe that is the record of the geological survey. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How long is it? A A little over forty miles in length BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Did you run there rapids in Cataract canyon? A We run every rapid in Cataract canyon. Q Did both of you run every one? A Yes sir. Q Didn't line your boats on a one? A We didn't take our boats out of a single rapid, and we have always bragged about it, that we had quite an adventure, and got through without any serious difficulty. 2760 |
