Show Hyde- D 635 A Up to three years ago. Q Up to three years ago? A Yes. Q When was it you went to Monticello? A I was in Bluff with lots of interests when I went to Monticello. I lived in Monticello for two years, most of the time. Q Aside from the two years, was all your time in San Juan county spent in Bluff? A Yes sir. Q Excepting the trading post and at Montezuma? A Yes, I think about three years ago now we moved to Salt Lake and quit. Q Was this operation that you have spoken of, of placer mines, before or after you went to Bluff? A Well, there has been several different times, of placer mine operations; that hang on for years. Q Did it begin or after you went to Bluff? A It began before we went to Bluff; in fact, there was placer mines down there in the bars when we went to Montezuma; prospecting there for gold then, clean up into New Mexico. Q Is there a road, back from the canyon, but down on the north side of the San Juan river, west of Bluff? A West of Bluff there is a pretty fair -- a splendid road, I would call it, down to Goodrich.
