Q Well, getting back a little bit, you came by on this run near the Utah Indian reservation? A Yes sir. Q Then how much did you run after that? A That valley continues some distance beyond the Ute Indian reservation. Then we get into what is called Desolation canyon, and the walls are not very high at first, and the water was still quiet through the greater section, or a great section of Desolation canyon; but towards the lower end of Desolation canyon above Rock creek we began to find rapid water and rocks again. Q How far is Rock creek above Greenriver, Utah? A It might be forty miles, it might be fifty miles. Q Go ahead. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What is the name of that creek you are talking about? A Rock creek; it is on the east side of the Green river -- or the west side, I should say, above McPherson ranch; McPherson had a trail along the river, and would drive his cattle up there.
