Show 590 out on top had; there are maps of that. Q You don't know whether the stream had been meandered or not? A No, I don't Q You examined the official plats, I suppose, before you started on your survey? A Yes sir, I have copies of them. Q You observed on the official plat were many lets that came down to the river's edge and stopped there? A As I remember it, there has a traverse made along the rim. SPECIAL MASTER: That shows for itself, I suppose, on the official plat, whether he noticed it or not - - MR. FARNSWORTH: Have you copies of the official plat showing those facts, Mr. Blackmar? MR. JOLLINS: Wouldn't be any survey made by the government of any of the up- lands alone the San Juan except where disposals have been made; that is a special survey made then, for that purpose. MR. FARNSWORTH: May I ask this of Mr. Hoyt. Mr. Hoyt, do those disposals along the San Juan in any cases consist of lands that lie right on the edge of the San Juan river? MR. HOYT: I think those disposals are bases on distances from the river, a strip a quarter of a mile back from the river. Being no General Land Office surveys in there, they are tied in to the river instead of to the General Land Office surveys. ( Discussion off the record.) 2558 |
