Show Kolb- D 784 BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Is that Bryce river? A Yes sir, I believe it is. Q Do all these creeks that are marked on the map bring water in throughout the year, -- I mean, do you know? A I believed Rock creek had trout in it; undoubtedly it has, because trout don't live in all those upper canyons; they are tree- covered, more like the canyons in Colorado. There were streams came in that would give the impression they were permanent streams. Q So as you came down this length of river there would be more and more water in them? A Yes sir. The current was increasing as we came down. There is a road that parallels the river from the McPherson ranch down to Greenriver, Utah, or nearly parallels, that is, nearly within sight of the river all the way, and there were people going down the road; I remember we had quite a lot of fun running races with them while they were on the road and we were out in the river. It was lively water; it wasn't specially dangerous, and we made good time. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How far above Greenriver, Utah, does Gray canyon end? A I think between fifteen and twenty miles; I couldn't say; there is a dam up there, and I would say the canyon ended before we came to the dam. I don't know the exact distance 2752 |
