Show Hyde- D 604 MR. BLACKMAR: I think in 1884. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Was there a station at Thompson at this time you are examining him on? MR. BLACKMAR: The station at Greenriver, as I understand it, was established with the coming of the railroad. I don't think there was any town there, at all, prior to that. THE WITNESS: There was no Thompson for a number of years. THE SPECIAL MASTER: The railroad was there. THE WITNESS: I mean, wasn't Thompson station. They bought their water rights from the Thompson brothers, their cow outfit, before they established Thompson, and piped the water down the canyon to make this Thompson spring. BY MER. BLACKMAR: Q Do you recall at any time when you were in that country that any supplies were brought in by boat on the San Juan river? A I know an instance or two where people have come down with a little bacon and a bed; just alight as they possibly could. I don't know whether you would term that supplies, or not. What do you mean by supplies? Q I mean supplies for the town, for the merchants, freighting. A There never was any time there was any run there. Q Never at any time was there any freighting, either above or below Montezuma? A No sir, there was not. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You mean into Bluff? 2572 |
