Q And in order to survey this ten- mile strip on both sides, of course you had to have horses? A Yes sir. Q All that country had been winter- ranged during the proceeding winter and spring before your advent there, hadn't it? A I didn't understand the question. Q I say, all that you went over in making this survey, on both sides of the San Juan, had been winter- ranged before your arrival? A I don't know Q You don't know the practice of the cattle men and the sheep men down in that section? A They run some cattle in there at times, I know. Q You don't know that that is a winter range? A No sir. Q And that until the new crop of feed came out later in the year, that it would be pretty well eaten off by the stock?
