Show Hyde- RD 662 a boat? MR. FARNSWORTH: We object to this, your Honor. I think there is a subtle attempt all through the testimony of this witness to impeach their own witness. SPECIAL MASTER: I don't think it is impeaching, Mr. Farnsworth, because Mr. Raplee testified he brought in supplies both ways; there was no third way to bring them. Whether this witness sold him supplies that went by pack train or went otherwise does not impeach Mr. Raplee. MR. FARNSWORTH: I don't think it does, either; but I can not see any relevancy of it for any purpose. THE SPECIAL MASTER: It does no more than support Mr. Raplee. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q CAN YOU tell whether he took it out by pack train? A I don't know. Q What is the greatest number of placer miners that you ever saw working down there at one time? A I never saw over three men in one place. Q Well, in the whole stretch of the river. A I have probably seen as many as fifteen or twenty working at times, on the whole stretch of the river, during the winter season. MR. BLACKMAR: That is all. 2630 |
