Show Anderson- C 751 What he means, I suppose, is that in his opinion the channel was shifting from time to time. A boat must have a channel to run in. In that sense there must be a channel. In the sense whether there is a fixed channel that remains the same day after day, that is another question. I think you gentlemen are using the word channel in a different way. MR. FARNSWORTH: I am trying to find out what he means. I am confused on it. I don't understand it. Q Let me start over again. On your direct examination you said, in answer to a question put by counsel as to changing of channel, that it was hard to tell if the channel was in the same place on your second trip as it was on your first trip? A Yes. Q You meant that, didn't you? A Yes sir. Q And you say that, do you not, because you couldn't keep in mind the particular turns of the river, there being so many of then? A Yes sir. Q And you wouldn't undertake to say that there were any changes at any particular points on the river between those dates, would you? 2719 |
