Show Anderson- D 737 asked as if he could go up with us. He quit that boat right there; it set on the bar; couldn't get it loose. He quit it right there, and came over and wanted to wide with us. Q That is when you were coming upstream? A Yes. Q Let's get this straight about going downstream. Did you have any trouble on any of those bars or riffles? THE SPECIAL MASTER: this is the second trip? MR. BLACKMAR: Yes, your Honor. A We had about the same trouble. We had sandbars to fight all the time, just shifted around from one place to another, that's all. Q How far down did you get on your second trip? A We went down as far as Valentine bottom. Q About how far is that below Greenriver, do you know? A About one hundred a miles, I should judge. Q You had this save trouble with the sandbars going down? A Yes. Q Did you use any different methods getting off the sandbars than you did when you had the across on the boat? A One thing that helped us out was the stern wheel; it helped churn the water out when we got stuck; the machinery would churn the water up until it got some of the and out from under us and make a suction there and help us out. 2705 |
