Show 1874.] BIRDS FROM CENTRAL PERU. 135 L'unique exemplaire, dont le sexe n'est pas indique, tue a Amable- Maria en Decembre 1871. Cette espece est voisine de L. poecilotis, mais elle a le bee consi-derablement plus long ; les taches rousses rangees sur les couvertures alaires en deux bandes regulieres; les remiges sont liserees de fines bordures vertes excepte les tertiaires, dont les bordures sont larges et d'une belle couleur roussatre; la bordure interne dans toutes les remiges est aussi roussatre. Sa calotte est d'une couleur schistacee; l'ceil est entoure d'un cercle blanc compose d'une rangee de petites plumes; quelques plumes blanches forment aussi une ligne assez distincte en arriere de l'oeil et une tacheture irreguliere sur les cotes du visage ; la tache auriculaire est moins foncee que dans l'espece citee. Les subalaires sont d'une belle couleur jaune roussatre ; les rectrices bordees de vert; la poitrine est olivatre ; la gorge grisatre ; le ventre jaune-pale, a cotes legerement teints de vert olivatre. 12. POGONOTRICCUS OPHTHALMICUS, Sp. nOV. Viridis, pileo fusco-cineraceo, macula auriculari nigra, annulo oculari albo; tectrices alarum viridi-olivacea binis fasciis flavidis notata; subtus virescenti-flavus, pectore olivacescente tincto ; remiges et rectrices fusci, viridi marginati. Rostri nigricantis mandibula pallida; pedes pallide cornei; iris brunnea. Long. tota 105, ala 55, cauda 50, tarsi 15, rostri a commissura 13 mill. Male et femelle tues en Fevrier et en Mars 1872, aux environs d'Amable-Maria. Cet oiseau ressemble au P. eximius (Temm.) du Bresil, mais il lui manque de teinte verte au sommet de la tete ; le tour de l'ceil est dans notre espece blanc, tandis qu'il est jaune dans l'espece bre'silienne; les taches des couvertures alaires sont differentes; le bee plus long. 11 ressemble aussi au P. plumbeiceps, de Bogota, mais il est plus petit, et son bee presente une difference plus grande que celui de l'espece cite'e plus haut. En mode de coloration il a beaucoup d'aifinites avec les Leptopogon, surtout avec le L. pmcilotis et avec celui que je viens de decrire sous le nom de L. auritus ; il a les cotes de la tete egalement tachetes de blanc, une pareille tache fonce'e sur l'oreille, les couvertures alaires egalement variees, ainsi que la bordure des remiges scapulaires plus large et plus claire que sur les autres. DOLIORNIS, gen. nov. Le bel oiseau pour lequel je constitue ce genre est tres-voisin du genre Carpornis, Gr., mais s'en distingue en plusieurs details, qui me paraissent suffisants pour motiver une separation gene-rique. Le bee est considerablement plus court, moins fort, medio-crement large a la base et graduellement attenue vers sons ex-tremite; la mandibule superieure depassant la mandibule infe-rieure est plus courbee au bout que dans les Pipreola ; 1'arete est arrondie et peu prononcee. Les narines sont rondes et denudees. Les remiges primaires sont subaigues, sans etre attenuees; les 7e et 5e egales et les plus longues, 3e et 6e egales entre elles et un peu |
