John Wood Shed/Barn In 1999, this building was in an advanced state of deterioration. The low-pitched roof had la('gely collapsed in on itself. The building was rebuilt in 2000. According to the contractor, the roof pitch matches what is shown in a historic photograph that was provided by the property owner at the time the new roof was construction. The building was disassembled, logs numbered and reassembled in their original position. Corner posts were encased with concrete below grade for reinforcement. Recycled drylaid basalt stones were used at grade as foundation stones in between corner posts. The floor plan of the build ing has changed. The southern end of the building was stepped in one foot on the east/west elevations to accommodate the lengths of usable original logs. Sections of these logs that were badly deteriorated were shortened.
