Show LOW AND MODERATE-INCOME HOUSING TOUR OF SALT LAKE CITY -- TAKE 2 Curbs and gutters, open space, playgrounds, storm drainage, sidewalks ... these are all parts of neighborhoods and how those neighborhoods function. Housing, whether it is old or new, cared for or not, is probably the most important aspect of neighborhoods. And, of course, people live in these neighborhoods with their varied quality of life. The tour of low and moderate-income neighborhoods and housing in Salt Lake City that League members participated in during April was very successful. Many Leaguers felt that it was a good experience and were pleasantly surprised that so many improvements had been made to these older neighborhoods. One member stated that she is now much more observant of curb and gutter and park space in neighborhoods because they contribute to how an area looks. And someday our sons and daughters will venture forth to live in other neighborhoods. What will neighborhoods be like in the future? As League members we should be aware of where and how others live. Its nothing to be depressed about but rather something we should be prepared to do something about. Because so many people missed the tour in April, Stephanieloker has volunteered to lead two additional tours. They are scheduled for Wednesday, July 30 at 5:30 pm or Saturday, August 2 at 10 am. Meet in the southwest corner of the Sears parking lot on 8th South and State Street. Stephanie is the Community Development planner for Salt Lake City and can point out problems as well as solutions for neighborhoods today and in the future. Don't miss a second opportunity to go on this interesting tour. Please call the League office at 272-8683 to RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Non-Leaguers are welcome!
