We know t~at the mens' organization, which are essentially B'Naie Brith, is going to ~75 or ~80, or whatever it is, for their annual dues with the additional ADL. You know ADL is going to get ~50 a year. So, we sit down before our lousey year starts and we know we're going to give ~700 before we can give to the welfare fund be:ore we even give to the synagogue. And then me, I've got ~Y ow crazy little thing. ~very kid that gets barmitzvahed gets a minim of a ~10 gift certificate from me. That's nice. Every kid. I don't even know ~ost of them anymore. That started years ago. I used to see a kid that was barmitzvahed at Montefior and I'd ask him"what do you 11rant for a barmitzvah present?", and he would say "I don't know". I'd say "don't tell me 'I don't know'. You've got a ticket coming any time you want". And then he might come up and say "a football", so I'd sent him to an athletic de-partment store where I had a credit account and he'd pick out a -. football. Of course, he knew not to go over S20. In the early days t12, l14, ~15 bought a kid almost anything he wanted, then it got to 120, then it got to ~ 25, and some of them wanted radios. 0 kid that I knew very, very well wanted a bicycle, and I gulped and |
