What era, like what ti~e period are you talking about now, the 20's? 20's into the 30's. Who the hell's the guy that fought Jimmy McBrynan? Barnie Rossl I don't know why ~ him, Barnie Ross, , weight champion • . What about a guy named Max Bair? I can't remember Well, Max Bair, he's about as Jewish as •• I don't know that he ever was, you see, when you hung a Jewish star on him it made him impor-tant at the gate. Oh, is that what happened? Yeah, I think he had a Jewish father or Jewish grandfather, I don't really know. No, that was no great thing for Jews to be fighting in those days. It wasn't a big thing, huh? No, no. God, out in this country you had Harry Miller; Harry Miller used to fight as Bobby Miller. He turned professional and fought as Bob~~ Miller. He didn't fight very long, because that profes-h~~ sional)was a hard life compared to the amateur life. So, when you were in Colorado, you said you worked part time or whatever you could get. Did you ever take on fights, too? |
