Show Rose (1/20/83) nage 6 ~r. K Mr. R --------- Mr. K Mr. R pennies, and they're all alike. And the ~iracle of the Lord was not that He created LIKE but that He created so many human beings and they were no two alike, and yet they were all godly creatures and they were all of equal value.' And then he went on to a theme that man should not restrict one against the other within the limits of their values, each of us having that little essence of divinity. And that was his moral theme, and he did it beauti-fully. Gee, he did it beautifully. What would you do, give that speech to classes or to PTA's or how would you give it? ~e and I have addressed the principal levels and the superintendan levels at the Granite School District, and I talked to a number of people, officially, the school superintendant at the Salt Lake School District, and actually developed a warm personal relation-ship with the superintendant with the Salt Lake School District over this thing. He probably was not the most cooperative, what he put into effect when it was called to his attention was what he could get away with. I say literally 'get away with' because ther was strong provincial pressure, the PTA's were horrible, and you know, they are almost predominantly LDS. The) could nut that much ~ressure on the superintendant? Oh, good Lord, they put 1ft~ on the individual schools then that ultimately reflects on the superintendant. I don't think the pressure is so much on him as getting to the principal. Now, the principals, from time to time I would have something with the principals level and I was amazed in the beginning in both those school districts where I was most active •• |
