Show Rose (1/20/83) page 5 Mr. K Mr. R finally decided that there was too much discord over that play, as this teacher's remark. I'll give you another one that was a classiL in my opinion a classic. There were two little kids out in the playground just before Christmas when they were getting reedy to put the tree up or whatever else they were going to do then. Of course, Jesus is always a big topic for at least 10 days before Christmas in the school, so this little Jewish kid says to some other kid, "Jesus was a Jew", and the other kid says, floh, no he wasn't". uwell, yes he was", "No, he wasn't". "Yes, he was• ••• Well, you know, two kids like that they end up with the ·· ~/'- - of ell "-··F , ::; wisdom, andJ! of course, taePe's the teacher. So, they get back in class after recess, and the two kids ere eager to get their hands waving all over the place,& the teacher calls on one of them. "Teacher, she says Jesus was a Jew, and I say Jesus was not a Jew. Who's right?" And here this fount of wisdom comes up with "Well, she's right, Jesus was a Jew, but the Jews killed Jesus ... r. Inside of a week we had that \kid transfered to another school, because all the other tids were making her miserable. These are two things that have happened 1n the school. We've had ••• those are the two outstanding ones with me, after all, you have to re-member that these are many years ago, and we've had a lot of tnci-dents. But as the years went by, we carried our message into the school. Rabbi Berkman and I, he used to give them the moral background of this and I used to lay the law down. What was the moral background, do you remember what he gave? Oh, Lord, he told a story that started something like 'you know, we have\the United States Mint, and the Mint can turn out billions o· |
