Then ('))o. , 'r.~ off to the flanks , ~~it 10 yards away from the~, there's going to be a man on either side. Then there's a sergeant that goes behind the second lieutenant about 5 yards, and he's got ~ aybe the radio with him. Then you've got the rest of the squad, you've only got about 2 men left in the squad, then you've got a corporal. The cornoral is the guy that makes sure they don't bunch up too close and that nobody lags too far behind. That's the way an army That's the way the company moves; that's the way the way the plat - moves; that's the way the regi~ent ~eves. They start out like (tape ended and first part of side 2 is the latter part of a description of how a regiment moves, but not enough got on the tape to draw a clear picture.) I've given you 3 phases of the war, you know, as I've seen for my money, that's all there is to a war. It's no bigger, as vast as the whole thing may be,to the individual soldier it's no bigger than what's around him. For example, when we were in Luzo up i~hat we Ca?J ,c-,. and we were called Cagi&ll Valley, or were headed for Cagayen Valley, and then there was another place lrnown as the Bam Bam Hills, and I had learned that the )2nd division in the Bam Bam Hills and they were getting the hell knocked out of t hem. This cousin that I told you about that's a doctor that I went to see in Peurto Rico, he was a medical officer in one of those outfits in the Bam Bam Hills.
