They didn't send me and 5 or 6 other guys to New Zealand, who were the latest officers and the newest officers to hit there, and they sent me to a gas school, a chemical warfare school, on ~sparito Santo. I sat there I don't know for how many months, and then from Espirito Sonto .• Where is ~Spirito Sonto? Somewhere in the South Pacific. Oh, it sounds Spanish. Well, I guess it was a Spanish possession or had been discovered by so~e Spaniard, you know, exploring the ocean there. Was it an island? Oh, yes, all these were islands. Espirito Sonto sprang into prominence because of its, not so much strategic location, but the fa.ct that it was an almost ideal natural naval base. There were a whole bunch of islands, the biggest island was Espir1to Santo. be It was set up to .a a naval base. So, you went to school there?
