Show Rose (1/20/83) page 25 Mr. K Mr. R least I'm familiar and I still have my sources that I can go get it again if I have to refresh myself on it. When the Eblites came along, well of course, I filled that in ••• Who, Eblites? Eblites, that's another civilization and it wasn't even known that it existed ••• and it's in that Senarian region, it's in the old Mesopotamia. It's set between, now I have to go remember names - I'm sorry I started it, but anyway, there is such a civilization and you can find that out as easliy as I can. But, anyway, that's what I got interested. I got interested in where the Jews fit in the whole scheme of things. Then I began to realize from my outside reading as well as from hints that are in the bible, that the Jewish people were not necessarily the first people to believe in one god and the oneness of God. We probably were the first successful surviving people with that concept. But, it wasn't alone, that same thought was springing up in China and India •• well, it did with Abraham, it was in Eqypt because they thought GOd lived in the sun, but the fact of the matter is it was a one God concept. Anyway, the more I got into this, it all became a part of my reli-· gion, or let me put it this way, not part of my religion but part of my religious education. Some place along the line today I feel very, very strongly •• you know, there's a legend, I don't know if it's a ' legend or whether it's a philosophy of the religion, I can't honestly tell you, but some place along the line there is a concept that the reason God rested on the 7th day and He sanctified the 7th day is because He gave the 7th day to man in which to perfect himself and finish the work of creation. You know, we talk about the world being created in 7 days and yet your kiddish |
