I didn't, and it was the first day in class and I've got to go to the bathroom, oh, I've got to pass urine til you just can't believe itl I got my hand up and it isn't doing any good, and I'm standing up and I'm waving my hand, I knew her name because she had written on the board 'my name is Maude Oldhan'. And I want to tell you something, I did everything and finally I busted out "Y"iss Old Ham, I gotta got•• Well, you ca believe it or not, I felt that woman's resentment for the 3 years I had her in English, and vet she was beyond a doubt the best English teacher I ever had. She's probably one of the best 3 or teachers I ever knew in all my life. Without a doubt-but I get a grade from her. For that one thing, huh? I couldn't get a grade out or her. She used to make us, I remem commit to memory 500 lines of poetry.rn one year there were two semesters, 1000 lines of poetry. Every week we'd have to take ou turns and go up there, we coald go as fast as we wanted, but the minimu~ rate was once a week, and we'd get up there and I'd get gigged for it •• 'Done's Tem-ples and Theater.rLie' -well, it's Temples and Theaters Lie' •• but, I didn't know it was 'thEater, to me it was 'theAter' •• ! got gigged for that. I remember we took a test on definitions in poetry, I don't know lf you're familiar the word 'cesura' which means a pause. You're aware of that? Yeah. .,l.
