Show 7336 Chaffin- D 5316 BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What months of the year was that rafting down in? A That was dons in May and June. Q High water? A Yes. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Were you on the river all of the time during the years 1900 and 1901 after you went back in 1900? A No sir Q You went out each year, did you? A Yes sir. Q During what season of the year were you out? A Between 1901 and 1900 I was out from the river from some time in July until December, and then I was there a few days, made a trip in there with Mr. Bennett and a party from Denver; then I came back again in 1901, some time about April. Q Do you recall doing any other rafting during all your experience on the Colorado river except the two occasions you have spoken of, rafting the lumber, I mean? A 1901, about that time, I am not positive as to those dates, because that is a long while to remember, but it was in the spring I went in there with Bennett and helped to build a raft and boat, and we taken down machinery and stuff like that, groceries, grain to the Olympia bar. Afterwards I rafted some timber from the Tickaboo country, the mouth of Tickaboo, down to Olympia. |
