Q Was it a screw or a paddle wheel? A Propeller. Q Screw propeller? A Yes sir. Q When did you leave the river so that it ceased to be your home there in that vicinity? A Late in 1912. Q Now, after you built your Navajo, was the Navajo built about 1908 or 1909, whenever it was that you lost the Wilmont? A I think it was built in 1908. Q In between the years 1908 and 1912 what use did you make of the Navajo? A We carried hunting parties, tourists down to the cataracts, and hunting parties down the Green and up the Grand; we also at one time carried the city engineer of Salt Lake City, a man by the name of Smith, with one or two other men, from Greenriver up to Moab, down the Green and up the Grand or the Colorado to Moab and back to Greenriver. |
