Show 7253 Anderson- D 5233 A Yes sir, we pulled the boats up so there would be no danger in high water, pulled them out of the water entirely. Q I think you said you had about nine hundred pounds of supplies on each boat? A Yes sir. Q Did you take them from the river to your destination by pack outfit? A Yes sir. Q What would you say was the draft of those boats as loaded? A Well, I would say about ten inches; we had them loaded down pretty heavy; possibly twelve inches. Q What size boats were they? A About three foot beam, about fourteen foot long. Q When you left your point of destination, eighteen or twenty miles from the river, where did you go on that occasion? A When we left that place? Q Yes. A We went back to Salt Lake. Q And did you later return again to Greenriver? A Yes sir, we returned to Greenriver in January; we stayed there until the 1st of January, locating land, then when we got through that we went out by way of Torrey and Richfield, and back to Salt Lake. |
