A No sir, I haven't; I have run this boat a little, but of course Virgil was with me. I didn't understand the machinery. Q Has any work or money been spent, so far as you know, during the years that you have been familiar with the Colorado river, in improving its navigability? MR. BLACKMAR: I object to that as immaterial. THE SPECIAL MASTER: The question is, the river in its natural condition. MR. FARNSWORTH: I want to find out whether it has been in its natural condition during all that time. That is the purpose of the question. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I should think there are better witnesses that could testify to it than this man on that subject. MR. FARNSWORTH: He has probably spent as much time on the river -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: All right, if he knows; if that is the purpose of the question.
