Show 7319 Turner- D 5299 THE SPECIAL MASTER: I think he can express his opinion. I don't think his opinion would be worth very much, in view of his limited experience. I think a man who is as familiar with the river as this man has been can express his opinion, but his opinion would seem to me of very, very limited weight. I think he can express his opinion. Read the question. ( Thereupon the reporter read the last preceding question, as follow:) " Q. Do you know of any characteristic or condition of the Colorado river or of the Green river, so far as you have navigated them, which would interfere with the navigation of those portions of the river in a boat of two feet draft, handled by one who knew the river?" BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Answer the question. A Two foot draft? Well, if they would stay on the shallows it is all right; if they get off the shallows, sometimes or course there is a little trouble; I have sounded with an oar on each side, so as to know when we were going to strike a sandbar, -- guide the boat. MR. FARNSWORTH: Cross examine. |
