Show 7356 Wolverton- D 5336 Q Then you didn't give it any assistance? A None whatever. Q Now, did you go on up to Moab on that trip? A No. Q On the trip that you went up to Moab, how did you go through the Slide with that engines. A Oh, about the same as we did on any other part of the river; it is rather swift where the Slide was located, a large eddy below it, a bend in the river immediately above; we would follow up the eddy below the Slide, then set out boat over in behind the bend; the result was, the only swift water was had was in passing across the channel. Q So that the swift water was avoided in your trip up the slide in that manner? A Almost entirely. Q You went up in still water, and then 1st the boat cross to the other side into the eddy on the other side and went up that? A Yes sir. THE SPECIAL MASTER: What time of year? BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q What time of year was it that you made these two trips to the junction and to the head of the cataracts? A Both in the fall of the year. Q Do you remember the stage of water? A Rather low. |
