Q What was the nature of the trips that you made in that boat, that is, short trips or long trips? A Short trips. Q Did you sail the boat successfully? A Yes. Q You had a regular sail fitted on to a mast, did you? A Had a sail fitted on a mast, and we could set the mast into a socket in the boat. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Sail both up and down, or simply one way? A Sailed up. Q You never sailed down, did you? A No sir. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Later did you build a power boat? A I think it was 1903, built a motor boat. Q Was that the boat you gave the name of Wilmont to? A Yes sir. Q How long was that boat, and how wide, Mr. Wolverton? A A few inches over twenty- seven feet; about five feet and a half beam. Q What was its draft empty, approximately? A About ten inches. |
