Show 7309 Turner- D 5289 Q With boats? A Yes sir. Q Up and down? A Yes sir. Q I didn't get how long you have lived in Moab. A I couldn't give exact dates; somewhere between twenty- five and thirty years, close to it. I wouldn't say the date, because I don't remember. Q What was your business during that time, Mr. Turner? A Well, when I came to the country I had a few head or cattle down on Indian creek; I sold out on Indian creek, and I came back to Moab. Q Did you do any trapping during those years? A Yes sir. Q What kind of boat did you use in your trapping expeditions? A As a general thing we used a boat that is pointed at both ends. Q Flat bottom? A Well, not exactly flat bottom; it is pointed; we always pole our boats; there ain't the suction behind the boat as there is with a square- ended boat. Q You didn't use oars, then? A No sir; just the paddle, whenever we would cross the river, to get to where we could get shallow water and eddies. |
